The mathematics of Group E has become more complicated than expected after Guinea chagrined Togo 4–1 at their own home ground in Lome in the second match of the Group E 2015 AFCON qualifier after Uganda had played Ghana.
Having learnt of the news that Uganda had overcome Ghana with a 1-0 win at Namboole stadium, thanks to the efforts of central defender Savio Kabugo, Guinea had no mercy for Togo when they paid them a visit in Lome, Togo.
Sylla Idrissa opened up the scoring account for the visitors in the 25th minute of the game before heroic Seydouba Soumah opened his goal bank to score a hat-trick against Togo. Tottenham Hotspurs’ Emmanuel Shey Adebayor converted from a penalty spot kick to give his side a consolation.
The hat-trick hero, Seydouba Soumah scored his first goal in the 40th minute to give Guinea a 2-0 lead by recess. In the 60th minute, the lad made his brace before closing his three goal thriller on the day 10 minutes later to walk away with the ball at full-time.
Despite the 1-0 loss at Namboole, Ghana still lead group E log with 8 points while Uganda are second at 7points as third placed Guinea. Togo where relegated from second to fourth in just a space of hours as they remained at 6points.
Uganda Cranes set off today early morning at around 6:30am to head to Morocco where they will play Guinea on Wednesday 19th November while the Black Stars of Ghana will be at home in Tamale to play against bedridden Togo on the last day of the 2015 AFOCN qualifiers. Guinea host their matches in Morocco due to Ebola threats back at home.
The FUFA CEO Edgar Watson is already in Morocco to welcome the Cranes as part of the advance team.
