In rare Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) action on Sunday afternoon, a duel between Sports Club Victoria University (SC VU) and army side Simba ended in a stalemate (1-1) at Mandela National stadium, Namboole.
The learners were returning to action after nearly a month without play and Musitafa Kiraaga scored for them on a slippery ground.
It may not have been the result they wanted but Simba were happy to walk away with a point, at a venue where they got their first win of the season last week on Tuesday when they pipped league debutants, The Saints by 1-0 thanks to Ivan Waava’s only strike.
The one-all draw didn’t affect their table standings as Simba remain in the relegation zone (14th place) with just seven points from 10 matches while Victoria University who have played a game less remain in the 13th spot with 10 points.
Meanwhile in the other game played over the weekend, Sports Club Villa edged Prisons’ side Maroons by 1-0 to walk away with maximum points on Saturday. Ambrose Kirya scored the only goal of the day as interim coach Ibrahim Kirya registered his second victory since replacing the sacked Antonio Flores.
More action comes on Sunday, November 29 with a Namboole derby between league debutants The Saints F.C and SC VU.
