On Saturday morning, the world woke up to the shocking news of the demise of the greatest boxer in history Mohammad Ali. Since the official announcement of his death, world leaders, celebrities and iconic figures have been mourning and joining them now is H.E President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Mohammad Ali who died at the age of 74 visited Uganda back in November 1988 and also met with the president at Statehouse in Entebbe.
Through a post on the President’s official Facebook page, he mourns the late boxing hero. “Muhammad Ali, the former world heavyweight boxing champion, visited me at State House Entebbe on November 29, 1988. He was in company of former Sudan President Abdulrahman Suwar Addahab. Ali, whose death I learnt of yesterday, epitomized many things in his life but his discipline, determination and defence of the marginalized, among other qualities stood out. He was a revolutionary in his own right. He accomplished a lot even in the face of great challenges. May his soul rest in peace,” reads the post.
