Uganda Cranes tactician Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has revealed that his opponents Tanzania will have the advantage on Saturday when they face-off in the first leg of the 2014 CHAN qualifier in Dar es salaam.
Micho told MTNFootball.com this afternoon that Tanzania has played seven matches recently with the same players minus two who feature for TP Mazembe. “They are in a situation where they have been together for a while. We only have two players who played against Angola last month,” said Micho.
The coach was also very unhappy that all the international build-up games he has tried to organize for his team failed to go through. “We had already set a date and were getting tickets to travel to Iraq, but Fifa banned them hosting friendly games because of insecurity and the friendly cannot take place. We also had Rwanda and Ethiopia refuse to have build-ups with us and this has all frustrated my efforts,” he said.
He explained that although his team is responding well, training is much different from match situations. “We are going to fight for a decent result,” added Micho who also handled Young Africans in the Tanzanian league five years ago.
The Serb who has helped the senior team get close to qualification for the next round of the 2014 World Cup qualifier said he believes in the talent of his boys a lot. “I am very aware of what to expect in Tanzania, but I trust my boys can put up a good show in Tanzania during the first leg,” added Micho.
He said he expects players like Mrisho Ngassa and Amri Kiemba whom he coached at Young Africans FC to play an important part in that game.
