Truth be told, I don’t take the Abryanz Fashion Awards serious. I take him serious as a Person and what he does. I take the people he nominates serious. But from the list of the winners, I have more reason not to take these awards serious.
You can’t leave the public to constitute 100% of the final result. The public is not that intelligent. The public has never been intelligent. The only percentage of an award that should go to the public is not more than 20%.
Great Awards around the world learned this the hard-way, that the public is not that intelligent to decide for itself. There should always be a panel of professionals to pick who takes 80% of the marks.
Now you see my sweetheart Sheilah Gashumba didn’t win. Now you see Cny MC didn’t win. Anyone can manipulate the online voting system, but just because someone knows how to solicit votes doesn’t mean they are the best.
BigEyeug almost opted out of some awards this year because one of our competitors in those awards had found a way of hacking into the awards and generating very many votes for themselves. We were only saved by the fact, that the other 50% came in from the judges.
So, when will I take the Abryanz Fashion Awards serious? When the voting is carried out in ways that warrant seriousness. The only people that deserved the award on the final winners list were Gloria Haguma and, perhaps, Kim Swagger.
Then again, Abryanz also faces conflicts of interests in the awards he organizes which again will continue to bias me off taking these awards serious. Months ago, I spoke to people in Gloria Haguma’s category and most of them were certain they were going to lose.
If we choose to organize awards, let’s go all the way of doing them up to standard. Otherwise at this rate, even Busitema University girls may want to organize Fashion Awards.
