Uganda Kobs Captain and Vipers’ attacking midfielder Farouk Miya was voted the best sports personality for the month of May by the Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) during the body’s weekly meeting at Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala.
Miya won the accolade with a total of 540 points, edging Ronald Musagala, the national 800M runner who bagged 535 points.
Miya’s accolade was attributed to his great role in helping Vipers win the 2014/2015 season Azam Uganda Premier League title.
The Kobs captain also inspired the Under-23 national team to the next round qualification as he scored in the home and away fixtures against Rwanda in the Africa U-23 championship qualifiers. His massive contribution helped the Kobs to book a date with Egypt in the next round of the qualification campaign in a fight for a slot at the finals that will be played in Senegal.
In third place were motor sport crew of Arthur Blick Junior and navigator, Unissan Bakunda who pocketed 500 points for winning their second rally event of the year.
