LOUIS VAN GAAL has been snapped with Sir Alex Ferguson for the first time since taking charge at Manchester United.
Van Gaal was seen chatting with Fergie at an annual charity dinner at Old Trafford last night.
The pair were present in the stadium’s Manchester Suite for the star-studded event, alongside Ryan Giggs and Bryan Robson.
Former United player Alan Tonge tweeted a picture of the famous four, in which Fergie is enjoying a glass of wine next to Van Gaal.
“Absolute legends! Sir Alex, Louis, Denis and Robbo!” wrote Tonge.
Tonge also posted a snap with Giggs, at the dinner where Van Gaal is believed to have talked up the Welshman’s potential to become his successor.
The Dutchman’s wit was also praised with Tonge detailing a funny anecdote from the United boss.
“Louis: ‘I go for a walk in Manchester and everyone wants to take my photo and say hello. Why? We’ve only got 5 points,” he wrote.
And it is understood that the night finished with a charismatic speech from Van Gaal.
“It was an extremely confident speech and the fans present were lifted by his words,” a source told The Daily Mail.
“He spoke positively about Giggs, who he described as having all the capabilities to be the clubs next manager and said he is ‘learning all the time’.”
