The talking dog – who is voiced by MacFarlane – was killed several weeks ago in a car crash, but was brought back to life in last night’s episode (December 15).
Family Guy creator MacFarlane took to Twitter soon after the episode to quip that he wanted to teach his fans a “lesson”.
And thus endeth our warm, fuzzy holiday lesson: Never take those you love for granted, for they can be gone in a flash.

He added that he was surprised viewers thought Brian would be killed off for good, saying: “I mean, you didn’t really think we’d kill off Brian, did you? Jesus, we’d have to be f**king high.
“Oh and hey… thanks for caring so much about the canine Griffin. He is overcome with gratitude.”
Sunday’s holiday-themed episode ‘Christmas Guy’ saw Brian resurrected by Stewie, who used a time machine to resurrect his canine friend.
