The national beach soccer team, the Uganda Sand Cranes have advanced to the next stage of the Africa Beach Soccer Championship easily after their opponents Cameroon withdrew from the competition.
The Sand Cranes were meant to play Cameroon in the CAF2015 beach soccer qualifier between February 13th -15th with the return leg set for a week after as their first stage of the competition and the victor after both legs was set to meet Ghana in the next round but after Cameroon’s withdrawal, Uganda will automatically go ahead to face Ghana.
“FECAFOOT has just informed CAF of its withdrawal from the African Beach Soccer Championship, Seychelles 2015. Consequently Uganda has qualified automatically to the next round of the qualifiers,” reads part of a communication from CAF to FUFA.
The Sand Cranes will play Ghana in March between 13th -15th, and the winner after two legs will earn a slot at the forth coming CAF2015 beach soccer finals that are due April in Seychelles.
