History of the Uganda Rugby Cranes Sevens repeated it’s self over the weekend as they were beaten by both Australia and England like it was at the Commonwealth games in 2010 in Delhi, India. The Cranes sevens lost 43-05 to Australia in their first game of the day on Saturday and 40-0 to England in the second game. This meant that the Uganda Rugby Cranes Sevens couldn’t qualify to the next stage having lost those two first games.
However they still managed to get a consolation win against Sri Lanka who they beat 17-14 in a historical come back having been led 14-0 for most of the game.
Elsewhere in Glasgow, double commonwealth gold medalist Mosses Kipsiro led Uganda’s athletics teams into marathon. 13 individuals were the only ones that were able to participate in the marathon including the likes of Abraham Kiplimo, Phillip Kiplimo, and Solomon Mutai among others.
Out of the 13 participants, our very own Abraham Kiplimo was able to bring a smile on the faces of the Ugandans as he won a marathon bronze for Uganda in Glasgow. Despite Kiplimo having stumbled at the half-way point of the marathon, he was able to get back on his legs and managed to come third at the end of the marathon that saw him win a bronze medal.
