Uganda has continued to rise by another five slots in the latest FIFA Coca Cola World rankings that were released on Thursday, 3rd December in Zurich, Switzerland.
Uganda is now ranked 63rd as compared to last month’s 68th position. The improvement has been attributed to the Cranes’ incredible performance against Togo on November 12th and 15th in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia qualifiers which Uganda won in Lome (1-0) and in Kampala (3-0).
The rankings have also seen the Pearl of Africa rise by one slot on the African continent, from 14th position to 13th and of course remaining top of the CECAFA region log followed by Kenya, Rwanda and Burundi.
2015 CECAFA finals opponents, Rwanda are ranked 101 in the FIFA rankings while 2017 Africa Nations Cup qualifiers group opponents, Burkina Faso who Uganda will play next year in March are ranked 89th.
Uganda has had a steady improvement in this year’s rankings despite a slight set back in October – December (63rd), November (68th), October (75th), September (71st), August (74th).
