Uganda’s chances to win medals at the commonwealth games were given a huge boost yesterday after Fazil Juma Kagwa beat Sulemanu Tetteh of Ghana in the light fly weight category. Juma beat Zambian Lumbe Bwalya to qualify for the quarter final stage in which he faced the Ghana’s Sulemanu.
It was 9:15pm when the light fly weight 49kg boxer entered the ring against the Ghanaian who he won with 2:1 judges crowning him as the match victor. Juma’s win over Tetteh came just a day after Mike Sekabembe’s win over Ghana’s Haruna Usumanau in the light heavy weight 91kg. It seems like the Ghanaian boxers are suffering from a disease called “Ugandan boxers.”
Meanwhile, Uganda’s KBC captain Nasir Bashir and bantam weight boxer Nasir Bashir was beaten by English man Micheal Conlan in the Uganda’s first game of the quarter finals yesterday hence failed to qualify for the semifinal round.

Indeed he stepped up his game finishing 2nd in semifinals after having qualified in 6th position at the quarter final stages.
