Petr Cech’s agent today confirmed Paris Saint Germain and Monaco have made an enquiry about signing the keeper from Chelsea and is not sure whether he still has a future at Stamford Bridge.
Cech has been Chelsea’s first choice keeper at Chelsea since joining from Rennes for £7m in 2004, but his position is now under severe threat from Thibaut Courtois.
Manager Jose Mourinho wants to recall Courtois from a three-year loan spell at Atletico Madrid and is considering making the 22-year-old the new No.1.
Courtois, who has been offered a new contract, has insisted he will only consider signing it and moving to west London if he is assured regular first team football.
Back-up keeper Mark Schwarzer has already agreed a one-year extension and it is believed Chelsea are prepared to listen to offers for Cech.
The Czech international’s representative Viktor Kolar insists Chelsea have not made a decision yet, but is already preparing to get in contact with Real Madrid and Barcelona should they no longer want him at the club.
Kolar said: “We have not been given any signals that Petr would be made available [for transfer]. If that was the case, though, you have to realise that Petr is one of the world’s top goalkeepers and has a certain salary. There are not many clubs who could afford to sign him.
“If he were to leave, we’re discussing two or three clubs in the world. The situation has developed in a way, of course, but for now he is staying at Chelsea.
“Paris Saint-Germain have shown interest and we have also communicated with Monaco.
“I would get in touch with (Andoni) Zubizarreta (Barcelona sporting director) and people at Real Madrid. These are clubs we would consider if Chelsea wanted to get rid of Petr.
“We would also consider Bayern but they have (Manuel) Neuer there. Then there are leagues Petr would not go to. For instance, the Serie A, because clubs in that league have problems.
“(But) Nothing changes. He has two years left on his Chelsea contract and has an interest to continue there. Mourinho did not tell him that he would not count on him anymore.”
Cech has been arguably the greatest keeper in Chelsea’s history and helped them secure 11 major trophies in as many years.
