NBS Uncut presenter aka Annet Nambooze aka Anatalia Ozzy has today launched her initiative to encourage young girls and women to save and live a better life. The campaign named 365 saving challenge was launched todayat Old Kampala senior secondary school. WOMEN4HER is a consortium of vibrant young women that brings together Women in business, Women in Media, Women in Politics, Women in Agriculture, Women in Education and Women in Finance to reach out to the girl child in Uganda (Her) under the #365savingchallenge Project. The project has been designed to introduce to young girls aged 13 to 18 years to into having a saving culture through building their capacities in making better financial management and entrepreneurship plans, business management and career growth.The project commenced on January 1, 2019, however, the official launch shall be held on Friday, March 15, 2019 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Old Kampala Senior Secondary School main hall. Women for Her has already received endorsement from the Hon. Minister of State of Youth and Foreign Affairs as a good financial inclusion initiative targeting the young girls.The project shall be implemented for 16 months and targets to reach over 25,000 young girls from 50 secondary schools as the direct beneficiaries. It seeks to promote the financial inclusion of young girls using mentorship by women; encouraging high involvement of the banking / financial institutions; local and modern mobile banking systems, integrated use of unique model of using media campaigns such as television, radio, social media as well as attracting the private sector participation.
The project shall act as a platform for the young girls to learn the financial foundations to prepare their young minds for the after school social-economic environment as well as build convergence between the skills acquired in school, business startups and those required in the market and regular face to face awareness events to financially empower the girl child.
Currently, Women4her is working with the Private Sector Foundation – Skills Development Facility, Centenary Rural Development Bank, Next Media, Network of Women in Politics as key stakeholders to implement the project and would also like to request the Centenary bank to join as another key partner.
As a key strategy, the project shall mobilize for more organizations whose mandate or part of their strategy is to support the young girl become empowered including financial empowerment.The Project is aligned to the Global Agenda 2030 which presents an opportunity for young people to explore opportunities for job creation, entrepreneurship and self-reliance and is in line with the government plan to empower the youth and increase employment creation through fast tracking skills development as per the National Development Plan II 2016/20172019/2020 so a partner, you will be contributing to National and Global Agenda of creating inclusive growth and empowerment of the Women and Girl Child.
