Moses Basena who was relieved of his duties at URA FC yesterday has become the third coach to be sacked this season in the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) after Harunah Kebba of The Saints and recently Antonio Flores at SC Villa.
Basena who also doubles as the Uganda Cranes assistant coach to Micho, was sacked following his side’s 1-0 loss to The Saints on Saturday at home in Lugazi when defender Jimmy Kulaba scored in the back of his own net, a result that put his abilities into question.
“It is true we have relieved Basena of his duties and he has been replaced with Kefa Kisala,” club spokesman Edward Kulubya confirmed yesterday.
Kefa Kisala has been serving as Besana’s deputy and has been given the opportunity to guide the team going forward for the next seven matches as management plans on the next step.
Kulubya added that they will get an assistant coach to help Kisala or even a new head coach if need be.
URA have not won a game in the last five encounters, losing thrice and drawing twice leaving them in 10th place with nine points on the league table.
URA’s poor run of results:
URA FC 0-1 The Saints FC
Simba FC 1-1 URA SC
URA FC 1-4 Sadolin Paints FC
SC Victoria University 2-1 URA FC
Express FC 0-0 URA FC
