Uganda coach Micho Sredojevic is satisfied with the Cecafa draw that pooled Cranes in Group C alongside rivals Rwanda, Sudan and Eritrea.
The draw conducted on Friday in Nairobi also saw 2012 African champions Zambia square it off with Tanzania, Burundi and Somalia while hosts Kenya will contend with Ethiopia, Zanzibar and South Sudan.
Micho, who will be guiding Uganda to Cecafa for the first time since taking over in May when the tournament kicks off on November 27, believes the Cranes’ group is the group of death. But the Serb is happy with it, nonetheless.
“I’m extremely happy to be drawn in such a group (C),” he said, adding, “You can say ours is a group of death and I’m very happy to get such a competitive group.
“Rwanda is preparing for the 2015 Afcon qualifiers and are planning to use a young team in Cecafa, Sudan are a very strong team, same as Eritrea.
“Every match will be competitive and nothing is better than playing each match as a final. And for us this is the best way to prepare for Chan.”
Twelve teams will take part in this year’s tourney, where the most successful side – Uganda – will be looking to add to their 13th title.
