In a country where there is hardly a difference between fact and fiction, anything hair raising, sorry wig- raising is expected!
Maureen Agwate, a Kyambogo University fresher and staunch Maurice Kirya fan, transmitted shock waves to revelers of Banda KFC restaurant after a television preview of the Hostel series episode played, showing the Mwooyo singer earning a timber shattering slap from one male actor in a scene of the episode. The shocked girl could not imagine seeing her icon slapped like a toddler. She dramatically pulled her skirt in the process tearing a piece of it and sending her lunch on the floor. To the shock of everyone she uttered, ”What? He slapped Kirya! Maurice Kirya. What kind of a man does such a thing?
Isiko Samuel Bush a retailer of duplicated movies and music DVDs blamed the girl’s actions on what he termed as ”maloo”. ”That is maloo just! Why is she catching feelings? Has she not seen Angelina Jolie earning punches and kicks and sometimes dying in movies? Oyo Kataala!” he remarked.
But a woman’s emotions should never be dragged in mud like that. At BigEye.Ug, we understand this. Yours truly, paid for the broken plate and invited Agwate over to his room to act a real movie where she also played role of music producer for the short movie.
Uganda’s movie industry is slowing but surely climbing to great heights with more local televisions giving commendable rotation to home produced series instead of Indian and Mexican soaps.
The hostel series airs on NTV starring Maurice Kirya in his debut silver screen appearance as actor.
