Cranes are planning to camp in Istanbul, Turkey ahead of their crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier against Senegal.
Uganda coach Micho Sredojevic told MTNFootball.com that a private camp abroad will be an ideal way to prepare the team for their September 7 date in Marrakesh against Senegal.
“We need to be away and camp for sometime without interruptions so that we can be in shape to challenge the good team of Senegal,” added Micho.
Micho, who left for Turkey just after the Cranes friendly against Egypt, said the camping was subject to approval by the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA). “I have made my plans, but I wait to hear what the FA says,” added Micho.
“I hope the FA or even government comes forth to cater for the team to have the camp in Turkey.”
And Micho also said the pressure is on Senegal in Marrakesh because they have big name players who play in big leagues around the world.
“We know that the only thing we need to do is win the game so that we qualify for the next phase of the qualifiers,” said Micho. Uganda’s World Cup qualifying hopes were revived following back-to-back home wins in June over Liberia and Angola whom they beat 1-0 ad 2-1 respectively to move them within one point of Group J leaders Senegal.
Senegal leads Group J on nine points while Uganda has eight points heading into their final group decider in Morocco next month.
