Centenary Bank has today extended its partnership with Buganda Kingdom with a shs210-million sponsorship of the biggest football tournament in the kingdom – the Masaza Cup.
This was announced at a media briefing, which was attended by Kingdom of Buganda and Centenary Bank officials led by the Katikkiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga and Centenary Bank Managing Director Fabian Kasi.
“This tournament is important to us because we believe that developing youth talent is key to ensuring their prosperity and improving their livelihoods in future. Our participation in this tournament is part of our Corporate Social Responsibility to give back to the people of Buganda for having supported us over the years,” said Mr Kasi.
Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga thanked Centenary Bank for their generous contribution.
“Centenary Bank has been a key partner in developing Buganda Kingdom over the years and its gesture today is testament that it’s here to better the lives of the people. The bank’s contribution will go a long way in ensuring that we hold a successful tournament,” the Katikiro said.
The Masaza Cup is an annual tournament organised by the Buganda Kingdom to search for young potential footballers, develop their talent, while mobilizing the people of Buganda through sports. According to the tournament organisers, last year each match attracted thousands of people from 18 counties of Buganda.
“As the tournament’s platinum sponsor, we believe it will provide us with an opportunity to engage with the people of Buganda and further extend our commitment to being the people’s Bank,” Kasi said.
Buddu County are the defending champions of the tournament.
