Marcelo Real Madrid full-back Marcelo admits that his side’s chances of claiming the La Liga title have been dented, but they are determined to approach the remaining fixtures like finals and will fight until the end.
Real Madrid full-back Marcelo has apologised to the club’s fans following back-to-back defeats to Barcelona and Sevilla, which dropped Madrid down to third place, three points off the pace set by leaders Atletico Madrid and two behind second-placed Barcelona.
The Brazil left-back admits the team have been mentally affected after the results against Sevilla and Barcelona, but he assured fans the players will approach the eight games left like cup finals in order to keep their hopes of the title alive.
“We created chances but we were unable to make the most of them, that’s football,” Marcelo told the club’s official website of the 2-1 defeat to Sevilla.
“But we would like to apologise to the Real Madrid fans, who always support us.
“We knew the end of the season is very difficult, with very important matches and we will keep on fighting.”
