The legendary David Obua has been tasked to captain the Uganda All-Star side that will face off with the Barcelona legends in a charity match that will launch the Rayco Garcia Football Academy come December 12th at Namboole Stadium.
The Uganda select side is expected to have both former and a few current Uganda Cranes stars like anchorman, Tony Mawejje, left-back Simeone Masaba, former Captain Ibrahim Ssekagya among many others with Ex-national team tactician and current KCCA FC head coach Mike Mutebi chosen to be in charge of the team.
The revelations were all made by Ambrose Tashobya (Stadiums for Africa CEO) during a press conference at the Nile Breweries Limited (NBL) commercial offices in Luzira.
Daniel Ogong, the NBL Marketing Director used the same platform to unveil a sponsorship deal worth $100,000 (sh340m) that has been contributed towards the highly anticipated game and state of the art academy.
“This is a huge and historical project which we are committed to, we intend to spend another shs 200M in promoting the game and we shall be doing several activations to this effect,” Ogong is quoted on the New Vision Website.
Ogong also launched a six week-long promotion in which Nile Special customers across the country will win match tickets for the game if one buys at least three beers while two lucky winners will get a chance to play alongside the legends.
The Barcelona legends are expected to step in the country on December 8th and will visit various tourist sites before the match day, with tickets set to be sold at KFC outlets and Shell fuel stations.
The match is proudly sponsored by H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Uganda Tourism Board, Sheraton Hotel, Vision Group, KFC, KCCA, Coca Cola and Nile Breweries among others.
