Ten time league champions Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club outclassed city rivals Sports Club Villa with a 3-1 thumping to extend their lead to seven points at the summit of the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL).
The epic battle that pulled a very large crowd at the Phillip Omondi Stadium on Tuesday evening saw the hosts take a halftime lead courtesy of Paul Mucureezi’s twelfth minute wonder strike.
A few moments after Mucureei’s thunder strike, KCCA missed the opportunity to double their lead when Mutyaba’s free kick was denied by the woodwork while the rebound strike was ruled out for an offside.
With the yellow boys being the dominant side in the first half of the game, Coach Shafik Bisaso was compelled to make his first substitution at the start of the second half withdrawing Paul Mbowa for Abel Etrude.
On the half hour mark, Tabu Vitalis levelled matters for the visitors from the spot kick after Habib Kavuma handled the ball in the forbidden area.
Villa’s joy of having matters back to level was short lived when Derrick Nsibambi restored the lead for the Kasasiro Boys with a sharp header off Ronald Musana’s cross just five minutes later to make it 2-1 while Joseph Ochaya hammered the last nail into the Jogoos’ coffin with a beautiful and strong header off Muzamiru Mutyaba’s corner in dying minutes of the game.
