When he was beaten and burnt to death on Dec 26th (Boxing Day) back in 2012, Karamagi would soon be forgotten as his murder case was closed shortly after. His name came up again only when a one Maj. Kyamanywa returned from Somalia and requested that his case be reopened and the perpetrators published.
The authorities did as requested and the case was re-opened bringing back all the bad memories of 2012 that took place in Seguku where the deceased was allegedly tied to a pole like in the Old Testament Bible times, beaten and burnt to death using aviation fuel.
As all this went on, it seems some people were very unhappy. We have been told that last week the Maj. was attacked by goons who beat him up and almost sent him to his maker. He was coming from Fort Portal to Kampala at night when goons who had been following him stopped the car and beat him to near death.
“The attackers were following me from Kyenjojo. I reduced speed so that they could pass but they refused and kept on following me,” he said.
“When I reached Mityana, I stopped by the road side and decided to put in some passengers so that I would be safe. This did not work as the goons bypassed my car and waylaid us on Mityana road,” he added.
According to the Maj. the goons pretended to have a mechanical problem, stopped their car in the middle of the road, put stones all over the place and forced him off the road only for him to be stopped and thumped.
The soldier who has been receiving a lot of threats since his return from Somalia was saved when he reached for his baton in the car which the attackers mistook for a short gun, running off. He was rushed to Mubende hospital and is now much better.
We will keep you posted.
