The Uganda Premier League defending champions, Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club have been reunited with their former defender Joseph Ochaya who left the club in 2012 for Ghana’s Asante Kotoko where he had a stint for two seasons before falling out with his employers.
“The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) has cleared defender Joseph Ochaya to play for KCCA and his International Transfer Certificate has been sent,” reads a statement on the club’s official website.
Ochaya reunites with his former club just two days before their tie with Cameroon’s Cosmos De Bafia in the CAF Champions’ League and he could be included in the playing squad should he get a clearance from the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) just in time for the game.
“We are doing everything possible to ensure he is cleared before the game on Saturday and we’ve sent all the necessary documentation to get him a CAF license. Even if he misses the first leg, we are optimistic he will be available for the return match in a fortnight and the second round of the UPL,” club Secretary David Tamale said.
Ochaya now joins the list of complete signings that include Cranes’ defender Savio Kabugo, Francis Olaki, goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan and Timothy Awani.
With injuries crippling the team down, Ochaya can be a perfect replacement for injured new signing Savio Kabugo who is likely to miss the Saturday clash at Namboole Stadium.
