South Africa based sangoma, Katsha De Bank, real name Shafique Katumba, got arrested recently in South Africa for alleged fraud. The Money Team Africa boss who was denied bail due to the severity of his matter had to cancel all his holiday trips to Kampala.
But what exactly led to his arrest? A source who prefers anonymity has divulged that Katsha’s problem known to the world is just the tip of the iceberg.
Apparently, Katsha was involved in a lot of procurement related fraud. “He used to fool big companies who are trying to get tenders and he would make off with millions of rands. In this particular case, he had a team of around five men who worked on the deal and stole a lot of money from unsuspecting clients. When the deal got bitter, he tried to run away to East Africa. His team was arrested and they had no choice but to name their boss,” the source said.
Upon reaching the East, Katsha had two choices, to either go back home and face the law, or run away like a little boy and risk the wrath of Interpol.
“It is at this time that he contacted his friends down South who got in touch with good lawyers. The lawyers advised Katsha to come back home, pretend that he has never met his team and have the case closed,” the source added.
Unfortunately for the money bags whose wife is due soon, his story was not convincing enough for the authorities to the extent of being denied bail.
At this point he worked with his lawyers to get a huge sum of money which would in turn be used to apply for another bail. During the next few days, he put most of his properties up for sale including some of his beautiful rides. Rich Gang boss and President of Ugandans in South Africa was kind enough to buy one of the rides in order to get Katsha some money.
When Katsha made the money, he was released on bail a few days ago. He was however given conditions not to leave the country.
“Yes, they confiscated his passport as investigations in the matter go on. They event put a travel ban on him to remain here in South Africa until this case is closed,” the source added.
Katsha who has been reduced from a very rich man to a prisoner is now devising means to have the case closed completely so that he can be able to enjoy his life in peace.
