Former Sports Club Villa manager Chris Mubiru is now a free man after High Court justice Wilson Musene Masalu cleared him of sodomy charges.
Mubiru was last year in September sentenced to 10 years in jail by the Buganda road court chief magistrate Lilian Buchana after finding him guilty of sodomizing a young boy. He was also ordered to pay UGX50 million to the victim. Mubiru then this year appealed at the High court against the sentence which has this morning acquitted him of all charges claim the video evidence presented against him was insufficient.
In his judgment on Tuesday morning, Justice Masalu further ruled that it was wrong for the victim not to report to police, having been allegedly sodomized in 2009 and waited in 2013 when many years had already passed.
Masalu also said that there was no medical report by the doctors to further assert the victim’s claim hence declaring Mubiru not guilty.
