Equity Bank Uganda, led by Managing Director Gift Shoko, has paid a courtesy visit to Nation Media Group (NMG) Uganda’s head offices in Namuwongo, Kampala, as part of a broader engagement strategy aimed at deepening ties with media stakeholders.

The high-level delegation, which included Olivia Mugaba, Head of SME Banking, and Clare Tumwebaze, Head of Marketing and Communications at Equity Bank, was warmly received by NMG Uganda’s Managing Director, Susan Nsibirwa, and other senior management staff. These included Hajara Batuka (Head of Marketing), Allan Chekwech (Managing Editor, Daily Monitor), George Kihuria (General Manager, Finance), and Sam Barata (General Manager, Commercial).
The visit, held on Thursday, 3rd July 2025, was centered on strengthening media collaboration and aligning strategic goals between the two institutions. Ms. Nsibirwa highlighted NMG’s strong regional presence across East Africa through its media brands such as Daily Monitor, NTV Uganda, KFM, and The EastAfrican, noting the potential for expanded partnership with Equity Bank in amplifying its visibility and social impact across multiple platforms.
She also acknowledged the Bank’s long-standing support for local initiatives, especially its three-year sponsorship of the Top 100 SME initiative and broader contributions to Uganda’s socio-economic development.
In his remarks, Mr. Shoko reiterated Equity Bank’s commitment to serving Uganda’s diverse population, revealing that the bank currently supports over 2.3 million customers nationwide. He outlined the institution’s strategic focus areas, which include agriculture, trade, manufacturing, retail, SMEs, energy, and environmental sustainability.
Mr. Shoko further emphasized the Bank’s social impact agenda, particularly in delivering affordable credit to youth, women, and farmers, and its ongoing efforts to support refugee communities through social protection programmes.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to explore collaborative content opportunities that spotlight transformative stories—especially in youth and women empowerment. Both parties expressed optimism about future engagements and pledged continued cooperation to drive mutual growth and national development.
