2014, among other things, has been a year of good songs. Songs that have ruled the airwaves for long. Songs that became soundtracks to our lives. And these songs, for lack of a better word, are up there as songs of the year. These songs include;
Neera by Mowzey Radio
If there is a song that ruled the airwaves, then it has to be Neera by Mowzey Radio. It was flawless. It was well-crafted. And it was sweet, soothing and melodic. It left you unquenched and it made you yawn for more and more. It was perfectly done with rich lyricism.

Mubbi Bubbi by Maro Ft David Lutalo
Maro is up there among artistes of the year. He had a remarkable year that saw him hold a successful VIP concert at Mackinnon Suites. And his Mubbi Bubbi song with David Lutalo has been no doubt one of the best songs of this year. A song directed to de-toothers who ease in your life and leave you with nothing. What more can we ask for? Thanks for the song, Maro.

Gyobera by Irene Ntale
This has been Irene Ntale’s year. It has been a wrap for this talented chanteuse. Gyobera has been as popular as Irene Ntale herself; a well-crafted ballad about a love-struck girl asking for your coordinates, where you stay. Couldn’t she use Google Maps? And it followed us to where we all stay. It was a soundtrack to our lives, to some people’s ‘vibing’ lives. It was a good song, if you ask me. Good and ear-worm of sort. It always feels good to hear Irene croon in her husky voice. Irene, where do you stay, dear?

Go down low by Sheebah and Pallaso
If there is a group that has been everywhere like oxygen, it has to be Team No Sleep. Did they ever sleep? No, they didn’t. And Go Down Low has been one of their remarkably successful songs this year. Sheebah, with such unrivaled enthusiasm, has been remarkable as well. Go Down Low makes this list.

Love You Every Day by Bebe Cool
If it wasn’t for a good video, this song wouldn’t have been as popular as it has been this year. What does that teach folks in the music industry? Get off your Fannies and make good videos to popularize your songs. This song has been everywhere you go like a certain telecom company. It is a good song, yes, but the audio was a bit meh, not as good as its video. But we shall painfully bat our eyelids and let it slide.

Abantu Baffe by Ziza Bafana Ft King Saha
King Saha is one of the newbies as far as vocals are concerned. He has a somewhat sweet, melodic voice that seems to be bewitching. Here, he teams up with Ziza Bafana, another newbie, with Abantu Baffe. It’s a typical dancehall track. And Saha’s vocals sold this song to the world. But still, Ziza Bafana’s husky, intimidating voice was somewhat fresh and offered the much-needed energy to the track. Good song. Those are our people.

Tetubatya by A Pass
Much as he has been around for some time, A Pass has been largely unknown. He is a talented young lad with a voice that can shake the plutonic plates. His Tetubatya song ruled the charts, no doubt. Folks might say Tuli Kubigere should take this position, but, come on, Tetubatya has been unrivaled this year. If A Pass doesn’t fear anyone, then he has a bright future ahead of him.

Nva Ntinda by St. Nelly Sade
This lyrical genius registered himself as the best in the game with Nva Ntinda single. It ruffled a few feathers. It was common for some time, but later vanished off the scene. But that doesn’t take away the fact that it was a good song. It held such sense to it and it was delivered in such creative way only Nelly Sade could manage.
Wale Wale by Chameleone
It was common because, for some odd reason, Chameleone always has a popular song every year. And this year, Wale Wale couldn’t have missed our ears. Alien and enigmatic lyrics, but a catchy beat and a familiar voice was enough for Chameleone to popularize this song. I guess this song rode on Chameleone’s popularity. If it wasn’t for his name, well, who knows, it would have remained under the bed gathering dust.
