In a space of one year, Asylum Bar and Lounge along Namugongo road has grown from just a simple bar to one of the most respected bars in Uganda at the moment. But more surprising is the expansion rate the Asylum Investments Empire is taking on.
BigEye.ug has come to learn that the enterprising trio of Darius Mugisha, Henry Ssali and Edward Ssekalo has bought another bar, Mukono based XChange Bar and Grill.
And as soon as the deal was sealed, rebranding of the premises started off. The trio quit Bugolobi based Virgin Island bar (now Temptations bar) where they were partners with Dr. Innocent Nahabwe, the owner of Club Amnesia and went ahead to begin Asylum bar.
This expansion is proof that the boys have grown into men. The Asylum Namugongo branch prides in having the best services when it comes to health club facilities and the splendid kitchen section.
However, some parties we spoke to confirmed that this was a well calculated business move.
“Every business has to diversify, you have to spread the risk, you can’t base on one business branch, the market keeps changing,” said an in-house economist at BigEye.ug. It is believed that there is a bar that will soon set up a few metres from Namugongo and this may give the owners some competition yet Mukono on the other-hand is growing at a fast rate as far as entertainment demands are concerned.
Douglas Mazune, the previous owner described the deal as one they could not reject because it was super enticing. We are digging up our ground for how much the trio must have bought off this bar.
