The Embassy of France in Uganda is pleased to announce the Youth and French Language Day to be hosted at the Alliance Française of Kampala (French Cultural Centre – plot 52 -Bukoto Street – Kamwokya) this Saturday 19th March 2016 from 2:00PM to 9:00PM.

Different activities have been programmed, including concerts, “edutainment” activities about French-speaking countries from all around the world, screening of a West-African animated movie (“Adama”) and artistic performances by different Ugandan institutions. An open air stage will be set up to allow different schools offering French classes to perform in front of the public. Seven (7) schools will be represented: Kampala Diplomatic School, Gayaza HS, Hillside, Taibah International School, Ecole Française des Grands Lacs, City Parents School and Aga Khan.

The Embassy of France will officially launch its new scholarships programme for young Ugandan professionals, allowing talented Ugandans to win free French courses at the Alliance Française, and, for the best candidate, a business trip to France!.

The Breakdance Project Uganda (BPU) that has, in February and March, conducted dance, singing, drama and poetry workshops with a girls secondary school (Gayaza High School), a refugee center (Interaid) and the French Club of Makerere University, will stage an original show to sensitize about French language and social themes such as environment, gender equality, peace and reconciliation. The final act will bring together French/English/Luganda speaking artists on stage in a joint performance.
