Uganda’s Sports Club Villa has been pitted against Zanzibar’s JKU at the next stage of the continental CAF Confederations Cup.

The Jogoos knocked out Sudanese side Al Khartoum Al Watani on a 2-0 aggregate to advance to the next stage of the annual competition. Peter Lwesibawa scored the only goal of the day in Saturday’s return fixture at a soggy Nakivubo Stadium in which a heavy downpour forced the game into a 15-minute recess barely half an hour after the match start.

Villa’s goalkeeper Nicholas Ssebwato also did well to save a penalty in the first half of the game that the visitors highly dominated with Uganda’s Michael Birungi also netting one for them but was ruled out as an offside.

Meanwhile, the Blues technical director Frank ‘Video’ Anyau who also doubles as the club’s lead coach during the CAF competition engagements has revealed that they will not change strategy.

“We shall not change our approach as long as it is effective. And I am also aware our next opponents have a similar playing style to Khartoum,” Anyau is quoted by the Daily Monitor.

SC Villa will host JKU in the first round on March 11th with the return leg slated for a week later.
