Micho sees room for improvement

micho1Uganda coach Milutin Micho Sredojevic is happy with the 1-0 victory over Liberia on Saturday but admitted a lot still had to be done to improve his side technically.

The Liberians led by the impressive Anthony Laffor displayed better know-how in the final third compared to their hosts but only let themselves down in execution in front of goal.

The victory moved Cranes to second place in Group J on five points. Senegal remain on top with six while Angola and Liberia are both on four heading into next weekend’s other round of qualification matches to the 2014 Brazil World Cup.

But with Angola looming this Saturday at Namboole, Micho acknowledged that several areas will be reviewed after the game against Liberia.

“I’m satisfied with the result because it puts us in a better place, especially with Angola and Senegal drawing,” Micho told supersport.com.

“We started the way we wanted but late on Liberia, like any team that is down, forced their way back and we had to protect our lead.”

Micho added: “Of course we should have done better. We shall not get into excitement now. As a technical team we shall sit and review the game, look at the players that started, players that came off the bench, those that stayed on the bench, look at how we can get that killer touch in front of goal, we can improve.”

The last time Angola were in Uganda they lost 3-0 in 2010 and before that, suffered a 3-1 thrashing.

Meanwhile, after resting on Sunday to shake off match stress and meet up with family, the Cranes resume training on Monday at Namboole.
