Magogo – Uganda Will Be Regular Afcon Qualifiers

The newly elected President of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) – Moses Magogo – has said he is determined to see the country become perennial qualifiers of the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).

Magogo was on Saturday elected new FA President during the Elective General Assembly held at the Industrial town of Jinja.

He recorded a 92.3% record during the Assembly in the presence of FIFA member, Cecafa and Tanzania FA boss Leodegar Tenga.

“I want to work hard with my team to see to it that Uganda starts becoming perennial qualifiers of the AFCON. We want to concentrate on developing football from the grassroots and have proper structures in place and also bring many sponsors on board,” Magogo told MTNFootball.com in an interview on Sunday.

The 37-year old who is an electrical engineer by training until recently worked for the African Development Bank as an IT expert.

Magogo, who has been the Federation’s Vice President in-charge of administration in the past regime, takes over from Lawrence Mulindwa who served for eight years, but declined to seek re-election.

The new executive will run the FA for the next four years as per the constitution.

The other members who were elected included; Justus Mugisha (1st Vice President), Darius Mugoye (2nd Vice President), Mujib Kasule (3rd Vice President) and members  Mariam Kaliga, Samuel Mpiima, Patrick Ogwel, Hamid Juma, Rogers Byamukama, Chris Kalibbala, Sam Lwere, Rasoul Ariga and Richard Ochom.
