Who Still Remembers CHIC And SPICE Magazines Of The Nineties?

If you thought Red-Pepper, Kamunye, Onion and the like introduced Printed Porn in Uganda, you are mistaken. Back then, we had our own super CHIC magazine. Boys in single sex schools used to smuggle this mighty magazine to school and use it to (ohh by the way do what?)

It was the mighty magazine of the nineties. It was X-rated. We remember mighty men of today like Peter Ssematimba (now pastor and owner of Super Fm), he had a column on the last page where he taught people how to kiss and do other bad things.

I remember of a certain feature story where the title was: “Who taught you about sex, when you first had sex?” And people shared experiences, boys who had done their first practical with the housemaids and house-girls, girls who had got their first go with the shamba boys just to mention but a few. There were boys like Buula who confessed to having had their first sexual experience during the Mama and Tata games.

We had the famous girl groups like the I-jay featuring, those days Juliana and Iryn Namubiru were popular crooners at Sabrina’s pub. The rappers were trying their best at DV8 and the sexual scandals were always exposed in the mighty CHIC magazine. SPICE was also there to cover the hot news. For example, we had the news of how Iryn had stolen Frank Morel from Juliana and how they had their sex as far as the sex styles and positions were concerned.

But to the CHIC magazine and the SPICE magazine, you surely prepared us for the future that was to come. At least when Red Pepper came around, we were not shocked. We simply replayed the memories. Still have your copy of CHIC magazine or SPICE magazine, send it to us.
