The second edition of the Vipers Invitational Cup did not start well for the organizers, Vipers, as they were condemned to a 1-0 defeat by their neighbors Lweza Football Club from Kajjansi.
The pre-season tournament successfully kicked off yesterday with two games played at the St Marys’ playground, Kitende off Kampala – Entebbe Highway.
Newly promoted sides of Saints fc and Maroons fc opened up the competition as they shared the spoils in a goalless draw as the two sides renewed acquaintances since clashing in the FUFA Big League.
In the other game of the evening, Lweza had no kind words for the Azam Uganda Premier League champions Vipers thanks to Hassan Kikoyo’s only goal of the day that won three points for the ‘Kajjansi Boys’.
Games resume this week on Wednesday with The Saints taking on Lweza at 2:30 p.m while hosts, Vipers will entertain Maroons at 4:30 p.m.
They will continue on Saturday, 8th August 2015:
Maroons Vs Lweza – 2:30 p.m
Vipers Vs The Saints – 4:30PM
