BAJAJ, BODA BODA ASSOCIATION GIVE KISUGU COU PRIMARY SCHOOL A FACELIFT.

Bajaj Auto Limited in partnership with the Boda Boda Association of Kampala, has given an alluring facelift to Kisugu Church of Uganda Primary School.

The well attended exercise is part of numerous partnerships that Bajaj Auto Limited has initiated with the Boda Boda Association of Kampala that are aimed at giving back to communities that they operate in.

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Manish Thapar, Head of East Africa business, Bajaj Auto Ltd, said company’s key objective to the country is to provide employment opportunities, work for welfare of Boda’s, to help government streamline Boda Boda operations and provide high quality Customer Service to its consumers.

Bajaj Auto also keeps providing innovating offers to its consumers i.e. current campaign “win 100 bikes in 100 days” which has been ongoing since 1st Oct’2014.

Bajaj Autois present across 70 Ugandan towns and commands 92% market share. The company believes in giving back to the society through various corporate social responsibility initiatives like Mechanics skill upgradation and providing livelihood, safety intiatives with KCCA and now partnering Boda Association for welfare of our pupils.

“We are excited to be involved in this noble cause of facilitating a conducive learning environment in schools. We believe that through this partnership with the Boda Boda Association, the initiative will be instrumental in not only attracting more pupils, but also help in pupil and teacher retention,” he said.

Teachers and students alike were very excited and expressed gratitude at Bajaj and the Boda Boda Association of Kampala’s generosity.

James Jjuuko, the Head teacher said “We are indeed indebted to you for putting us back on track. Now that we have beautiful structures, the onus is on us to repay your efforts by excelling. We are going to work hard to be among the top schools in this community and the whole country,” he said amid applause.

In the run up to the ceremony, Bajaj Autohas partnered with over 50 motorcyclists to paint the school’s classroom blocks.

Speaking at the event, Kiviri Kanyike, the Boda Boda Association chairman commended Bajaj for the partnership saying that the initiative of giving back to the community portrayed them in a positive light.

“Boda Boda Riders in Uganda have been portrayed in a negative light by sections of the community. This partnership will hopefully start changing the way we are viewed by people”, he added.

The event wasgraced by Mr.  Rwamasaka Prosper, Supervisor Education Services Makindye Division as Guest of Honor. He joined other invited guests in lauding Bajaj for its contribution to Uganda’s overall economy.

“I have often interacted with Bajaj operators including the Boda Boda riders. They have become an integral part of our transport sector today and as result contributed positively to our daily lives. By going an extra mile to support our infrastructure, they have shown us that they hold their communities’ livelihoods in high regard,” he said.
