Princess Ruth Komuntale Pays Tribute to Late King Oyo

Princess Ruth Komuntale has once again paid an emotional tribute to her late brother, King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, describing him as a loving, God-fearing man whose name and legacy will live on for generations.

Komuntale shared the tribute on social media nearly three weeks after Oyo passed away in the United States while undergoing cancer treatment.

In her message, Komuntale said she still found it difficult to believe that the family had reached the moment of saying goodbye to her younger brother.

She said that beyond the crown and his responsibilities as King of Tooro, Oyo was a quiet and God-fearing person who enjoyed telling stories and making people laugh.

Komuntale recalled how the two siblings would reminisce about their childhood and the moments they shared growing up.

She also described Oyo as an amazing impersonator who could mimic people’s voices and mannerisms, adding that he always knew how to brighten her day.

Although Oyo was younger, Komuntale said he often acted like the older sibling, especially after their father passed away.

She said she was grateful to God for giving the family 34 years with Oyo and for the many memories they created together, including family holidays, childhood moments and laughter.

Komuntale also reflected on the responsibilities Oyo carried as a young king, saying she watched him grow, lead, pray, struggle, persevere and love.

“I am incredibly proud of you Amooti. I wish I could have more time with you,” she wrote.

She said she wished she could hear his voice, listen to his stories and watch him make people laugh again.

According to Komuntale, Oyo left behind love, memories, family and a generation that will forever know his name.

She concluded by asking her younger brother to rest, saying his work on earth was done and praying that God would receive him with open arms.

“Thank you for the life we shared. Thank you for the memories. Thank you for being my brother. I love you, and I always will. May King Oyo’s legacy live on forever,” she said.
