Renowned radio presenter turned politician, DJ Jacob Omutuuze, has delivered a harsh assessment of the Ugandan music industry’s current state, asserting that it has significantly deteriorated.

Omutuuze advised fans to calm their expectations for the year, citing a widespread lack of effort among artists.

With years of experience in media and music analysis, Omutuuze has witnessed the industry’s fluctuations firsthand. According to him, the industry’s vitality has waned, with a noticeable drop in new releases this year.

Omutuuze pointed out that many artists seem more focused on organizing concerts than producing fresh music. This trend, he argues, reflects a troubling shift in priorities.

Rather than creating new content, some artists are investing their efforts in music federations and associations, hoping to secure government funding instead of striving for musical innovation.

Omutuuze warned fans against high expectations, predicting a scarcity of hit songs this year. He expressed doubts about the longevity of any successful tracks that might emerge, suggesting they would quickly fade from the market.

Omutuuze lamented that the Ugandan music industry is struggling to keep pace with neighboring countries.
