Zimbabwe’s biggest artistes are roaring ahead of the Lion Beer festival which is already underway with curtain raiser performances warming the stage for the biggest acts of the night; Bebe Cool and D’Banj.

Like a man whose newly wed virgin wife has been seized for a ransom by a drug lord, Zimbabwe’s artistes are firing warning shots threatening to upstage the guest performers.

Known as the Ninja President by his fans, Winky D, a dancehall artiste known for upstaging international acts in Harare has promised to add Bebe Cool and D’Banj to the growing list of “his victims”, should they falter on stage.

But Bebe Cool is an awesome performer with commanding stage presence having performed at the historical 90th Nelson Mandela birthday. D’Banj needs no introduction either!

The Zimbabwean music industry is much younger than Uganda’s with dancehall as the flagship genre. Whether they swallow their words or chew priceless fibre of pride depends on what the stars will do!
