It was a few minutes past 5 pm when the leader of the Roman catholic church, Pope Francis landed at Entebbe International Airport for his highly anticipated 3 day visit to Uganda.
The Pope was welcomed by His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and his wife The first lady Janet Museveni, Uganda’s premier Ruhakana Rugunda, Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga, Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda Michael Blume among other religious leaders.
There was also a 27 gun salute before the singing of the Uganda, East Africa and Vatican anthems which where followed by jubilation and several dances from the traditional entertainers as the pope touched down on Ugandan soil.
He later headed to State House-Entebbe aboard his Honda KIA saloon car where he is expected to hold a special meeting with Ugandan Authorities before heading to Uganda Martyrs Shrine in Munyonyo tomorrow.
