Singer Weasel Manizo, formerly part of the renowned African singing duo Radio & Weasel, has stirred controversy by alleging that songstress Azawi’s latest song, “Masavu,” was illegally accessed from late Mowzey Radio’s unreleased projects.
The dispute emerged when Azawi clarified earlier this week that “Masavu (Radio’s version)” was created with AI technology and was not derived from any of the unreleased projects of the late Mowzey Radio, who passed away in 2018.
However, through Radio & Weasel’s official social media handles, it has been revealed that a page from Mowzey Radio’s Musical book is missing, hinting at potential unauthorized access to his unreleased works.
Weasel also threatened to expose someone amidst the controversy surrounding Azawi’s song, which is alleged to bear resemblance to the style of the fallen singer.
It’s worth noting that the controversy surrounding Mowzey Radio’s unreleased songs has plagued the music industry since his passing, with reports indicating that some of his songs went missing from various studios where he used to record his music.
In light of Weasel’s claims, Azawi’s management company, Swangz Avenue, has come under scrutiny, as it was one of the studios reported to have possessed some of Mowzey Radio’s unreleased songs.
The ongoing dispute underscores the complexities surrounding intellectual property rights and access to unreleased works in the music industry, raising questions about accountability and proper attribution within creative circles.
