UTAMU (Uganda Technology and Management University) student writers recently held their first seminar which was a success. The seminar was aimed at inspiring and motivating UTAMU students to clearly master the art of writing and eventually turnout better writers. The Seminar was held at UTAMU Resource Centre in Bugolobi.
In attendance were many VIPs but notably there was Uganda’s celebrated journalist Dr. Robert Rutaagi, who advised UTAMU student writers to exploit the available information sources to enhance their writing skills.
In his speech he said, “there is an information overload today. Google, libraries, news sites, social media, name it. Make use of them and scoop out data that will enrich your articles. Articles with well researched facts, background, quotes and several other details make articles more appealing.”
He further highlighted different sections of writing including poetry, prose and features and as well cautioned students to be wise and distill available information to enhance their writing skills. He revealed that his writing career started way back in High School and he has since lived to enjoy the fruits of his writing skill.
Dr Robert K. Rutaagi, who has authored 7 books and a collection of poems, is a retired Public Sector Management Specialist, University Lecturer, management consultant, member of UTAMU Senate, Author and a Member of Uganda Journalist Association.
