Ugandan stand-up comedian Joseph Opio widely known for the LOL segment that used to air on Urban TV is scaling new heights with his craft. The comedian who early this year wowed the crowd at the Soweto International Comedy Festival is now set to perform on the same stage that has been graced by some of the great comedians of our generation.
Joseph Opio will tonight perform at The Comedy Cellar in New York. The Comedy Cellar is a comedy club in Manhattan, where many top New York comedians perform.
He broke the news on social media where he posted: “Tonight, I’ll become only the second African comic to ever perform at New York’s most famous comedy club, The Comedy Cellar. The first African comic was Trevor Noah. Famous comics who regularly play The Comedy Cellar? Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld, Dave Chappelle, Louis C.K, Kevin Hart, Ray Romano etc.”
