Feridah Rose was born in Uganda but grew up in Denmark, where she has lived since her early teens. She has been singing and smiling her way through life and even came to lead a gospel choir in Copenhagen.
A couple of years ago she participated in a popular talent show on Danish TV, and this experience gave her ambitions a gentle push and she began writing her own songs.
Later on, Rose embarked on producing a number of love songs full of soul with influence from RnB, jazz, funk and some reggae.
The SCF award (CHF 500) is given for the best presentation at the conference by a young scientist (maximum age 33 years, no more than 3 years post-doc).
A jury nominated by the conference organizers evaluates the presentations and the award ceremony takes place on the last day of the conference.
The above Ugandan born musician won this award this year September as the emerging artist.
While chatting with Rose, she told us that emerging as the winner of this event did not come as a surprise because she believes in the kind of music she does.
On what she thinks about her home in Uganda, she confirmed to me that she will be producing a song in Luganda as soon as possible for her fans back home.
“Am planning on producing a song in luganda very soon,” said Rose.
