Uganda Sand Cranes off to Dar es Salaam for international friendly

On Tuesday afternoon, the national beach soccer team, Uganda Sand Cranes travelled to Tanzania’s coastal town Dar es Salaam for an international friendly match.

The team travelled by bus and is expected to make stopovers in Nairobi and Eldoret, Kenya during the 30-hour journey.

FUFA Beach Soccer delegate Anthony Mwesigye led the 19-man contingent that consisted of 10 players and 9 officials.

The players are led by team captain Roch Somoka who was on Friday last week named Airtel—FUFA Beach Soccer player of the year.

Traveling contingent

Goalkeepers: Meddie Kibirige, Micheal Kalule

Outfield players: Allan Katwe, Davis Kasujja, Ambrose Naturinda, Suleiman Ochero, Emmanuel Kalyowa, Roch Somoka (Captain), Swaib Kakwaya and Geofrey Akabwai

Head coach: Salim Muwonge

Assistant coach: Bashir Mutyaba

Leader of Delegation: Anthony Tumwesigye

Referees: Meddie Ssenteza and Shafiq Mugerwa

Media Officer: Patrick Lugemwa

Team Doctor: Jona Kukiriza

CAF Beach Soccer Instructor: Ali Mwebe
