Rapper Keko has shared her views about Juliana’s recent success at the Coke Studio Africa Project. While speaking to Ugandan all-star’s Billy in a video interview, Keko revealed that Uganda has always been too small for Juliana and she is not surprised that when she was given an African platform, she out shined, the so called Big Size, East African finest artistes.
According to Keko, a lot of the singers in Uganda have outlived their usefulness expect Juliana who is very talented and amazing. She said that she has always been a big fan of Juliana and was not surprised that when she was given an opportunity at Coke studio, she didn’t disappoint.
“I have always been a big fan of her, real recognize real. If she had a crew, I would join her crew. Juliana’s songs are all on the album and are in the top 14. I am not surprised I believe in her talent. She has been underrated and Uganda has always been too small,” the Make you dance award winning artiste said.
For artistes who position themselves as leaders when they have actually faded, Keko had no kind words. “These other artistes on this season were not doing much. She is the real deal. They flaunt that they are the biggest artistes in Uganda, Iconic this, Iconic that. You fell off. They are trying to hold onto the industry.”
The rapper recommended for more creativity and grooming of young talent for the industry to grow. “The whole game needs a facelift, we need a new face, we need a breath of fresh air to breath, alot of people can’t sing, they are just chocking the industry,” she added.
Keko was part of the Ugandan representatives at Coke Studio this season but was dropped on issues concerning her mental wellbeing.
This season, Juliana was paired with Nigeria’s Mr Flava, a combination that has left Africa wowed at how talented the two singers are. She is rumoured to be working on a collabo with the Ololufe singer.
We will keep you posted.
