The Ugandan FA has praised the work so far done by national team coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic since he took over on May 21.
The Serbian replaced Scotsman Robert ‘Bobby’ Williamson a week after Uganda Cranes had lost away 2-0 to lowly ranked Liberia in a 2014 World Cup qualifier in Monrovia.
“We are happy with the work the coach is doing and we are sure he will continue to work hard and take us to a higher level,” said Mujib Kasule, FA Vice President in-charge of the League and member of the technical committee.
Kasule said although the Cranes had failed to qualify for the next phase of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers after losing 1-0 to Senegal last weekend in Marrakech, Morocco, the coach has so far showed that he is a hard worker.
“We are very happy with him and we shall continue to advise him as members of the technical committee. We have already advised him to use the home based players to defend the 2013 regional Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup in Kenya and he has accepted,” added Kasule.
Since he took over handling the Cranes, Micho has qualified the team for the 2014 African Nations Championships (CHAN) after two wins over Tanzania, and also got the team close to making it to the next phase of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers after a 1-0 and 2-1 victories over Liberia and Angola respectively.
In the friendly games Micho’s assembled team lost 3-1 away to Libya and 3-0 away to Egypt before registering a 3-1 victory over Botswana late last month.
