Tooro kingdom would wish to clarify and put it categorically clear that His Royal Majesty Dr.Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV is constitutionally and culturally the legitimate King of Tooro Kingdom.
The allegations and claims that the King of Tooro has been impeached are not only baseless and defamatory but also intended to create a smoke screen to mask the numerous achievements of His Majesty and undermine the respect and integrity of Tooro Kingdom.
As Prime Minister of Tooro Kingdom, I want to tell the world that the king is working tirelessly to bring developments and projects in the kingdom. The king is in advanced stages of starting up the Royal University of science and technology in Mucwa, renovation of the Royal tombs as tourists attraction sites, The Children’s International Hospital and many other major developments for the people of Tooro.
The King has showed a lot of presence in His Kingdom! In the last two years or so King Oyo has visited virtually all counties in His Kingdom, not once, not twice but many times! Such counties as Kiyaka, Mwenge North, Mwenge South, Burahya, Bunyangabu, Ntoroko, Fort Portal Municipality, Kamwenge and Kitagwenda. During these visits, the King has encouraged his subjects to embrace Government programmes in order to fight poverty. He has also at all times warned his subjects about the dangers of deadly scourge of HIV/AIDS.
King Oyo has worked very hard to uplift the image and integrity of Tooro not only Nationally but also Internationally. The King of Tooro has attracted very many global investors and tourists to Uganda and Tooro Kingdom in particular. He has himself championed the demand for the return of Tooro Kingdom properties from Central Government so as to be able to serve the subjects better. What hasn’t King Oyo done for the people of Tooro?
The kingdom is ruled on the culture and norms of the land, and it should be noted that His Royal Majesty was enthroned at the age of 3 years and since then he has never been labeled incompetent! That can’t happen now when he is an adult and has made remarkable strides to bring everyone on board, both the elders and youth.
The people of Tooro can have divergent positions or opinions on other issues but not on who is the legitimate King since it is self explanatory.
We call upon the people of Tooro to remain calm and peaceful. As a kingdom, we already have made greater strides in uniting, building an identity and living in harmony as a people of Tooro.
We should therefore not allow anybody to destroy our great Tooro by diverting us from addressing the real issues that are affecting our Kingdom and rather focus on issues that are diversionally. Let us continue putting our energies to use and see to it that we fight together to safeguard the integrity and respect of Tooro Kingdom.
