By Toniks’ standards, 2013 has been a dismal year with only Mungatto as something of a hit to show off. Probably after parting ways with veteran manager Shadrack Kuteesa, he had to go back to the drawing board. I must say the Kuteesa-Toniks link up yielded many results as Toniks rounded 2012 with major hits like the chart topper Tugende Tukyekoole and that Runyakole anthem Itaano. Why they parted ways is a story for another day.
Allan Toniks (wondering why he added Allan to his stage name) returns with a ballad to serenade his predominantly female fan base called “Mba Nkumissinga”. I am still baffled at why he had to release this one in the last months of the year as it could have gotten him some necessary mileage.
In textbook zouk style, Allan intimates to a lady about how she takes a piece of him every time she goes away. He goes on and on about how he misses his girl. Well, if the girl he talks about didn’t return after pouring his heart out like this, it’s just plain sad. He sounds very deep in the song you get the feeling that he actually misses someone. His vocals are forever on point and the way he aligns his vocals with the beat he crafted tells of a guy who invests time in something he loves.
The ladies will connect with the song instantly and once you get the ladies attention a hit is guaranteed. All in all, it’s another good song from the RnB artiste but not his best. This guy can definitely do better. He is that talented.
