By BigEyeUg Team; When the lockdown was announced in Uganda, it was such a frustrating moment for the music industry as stake-holders’ annual plans were frozen.
This was a night-mare to one of the marathon-growing music genres in Uganda, Hip-hop, whose future prospects were extremely enticing with huge investments on-board like; awards, talent searches, audio & visual recordings, among others.
It was then, time for some of the giant investors in the Hip-hop world, The Tribe UG seek for new avenues of keeping Ugandan Hip-hop genre relevant in even the music business seemed shut.
One of the initiatives landed was having live virtual events, but because of the limited extent of technology especially in relation to internet accessories to part of Uganda’s population, this was dropped.
Here is when they developed another idea themed ‘UG Hip-hop Lockdown’ that has been a hue success for the Hip-hop fraternity.
The UG Hip-hop Lockdown partakes one beat shared by Tribe UG to different rappers to write verses and visually record themselves singing.
It is then Tribe UG’s responsibility to create a fine customized artwork and share it together with the recorded video on its social media platforms.
The UG Hip-hop Lockdown has already registered more than 16 verses from different artists with over 10,000 views all over its social media
These out merge from rappers such as; Navio, Byg Ben, KSL, Atlas, and anticipating for more talent to drop new challenges as the lockdown continues to surface.
“We invite you to be part of the UG Hip-hop lockdown by sharing your challenge on social media. The beat is accessible via; www.thetribe.africa,” stated Tribe UG Director, Felix Byaruhanga.
“The project is set with motive of promoting new talent and Ugandan Hip-hop creativity even during such trying times for them,” Felix added.
On further note; UG Hip-hop Lockdown is also catering for Deejays as they feature with Hip-hop mixes.
